John Schnatter was born Jeffersonville, Indiana, knowing that there was always something missing from the popular pizza chains. His life dream was to open up his very own pizza restaurant, and this dream came true in 1984 when "papa" John schnatter opened up a small restaurant after selling and saving $1,600 to purchase some restaurant equipment.
He immediately began selling pizza, which his costumers just loved! He was able to earn enough money to expand his restaurant eventually leading to the very first Papa John's in 1985.

Today, over 3,000 restaurants worldwide are open, and John Schnatter still remains committed to his gift of making the great tasting, traditional pizza we know today, as Papa John's.
